Proper care during the washing of bras helps keep them in shape and last longer. Find out from here the Easy Bra Care 101 on how you can care for your smalls:
• Hand-washing is highly recommended by all manufacturers as the first choice method. This aids in the maintaining the bra structure and shape and durability of your bra, particularly so for highly structure bra such as molded or contoured bras. Use a mild soap detergent for the wash.
• If you are opting for machine wash, then use a lingerie bag and wash the bra on the delicate cycle during the machine wash. Do note that machine wash will still cause damage to bras such as molded cup bra over time how ever gentle the wash cycle is set at. The spinning action will tend to cause creasing or even bunching up to the cup shape, especially on smooth cup bras. Do make sure you do up the hook and eye of the bra when using a lingerie bag before throwing it into the machine to avoid the hooks and eyes snagging other garments, and the hooks getting pulled out during the twists and spins in the machine.
• In addition, using a lingerie bag helps prevent other garments from grazing the delicate lingerie fabrics during the wash cycle in the machine. Items such as zips, buckles and buttons can also cause possible snagging on the lingerie.
• Bras that contain silicone, gel or liquid enhancers in them MUST ONLY be hand-washed.
• Do not use a dryer in the drying of lingerie items. The heat in the dryer will eventually break down the elasticity on bra straps and bands. Prolonged sun exposure has the same damaging effect on the elastane of the bra. The best way to dry your delicate items of lingerie is to hang them on a drying rack, or just lie them flat on a towel to keep them from getting out of shape.
• Do not fold your molded bras in half during storage or keeping them in your drawer to prevent creasing or denting the shape of the cups. They should lie flat in order to maintain the structure and shape.
